Sonya S. Ahmed Honored for Accomplishments in Health Science
Sonya S. Ahmed is a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society

HOUSTON, TX, September 9, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Sonya S. Ahmed, Orthopedic Surgeon at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in orthopedic surgery.

At the Texas Health Science Center at Houston, Dr. Ahmed works in the orthopedic foot and ankle sports medicine division. She was driven to enter her profession after experiencing multiple injuries during her former athletic career. In her position, Dr. Ahmed is responsible for performing orthopedic surgeries, teaching residents and managing the student center's clerical duties. She attributes her success to her hard work and the support she receives from her family and mentors.

The recipient of an MD, Dr. Ahmed has also earned a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. She is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In the future, she hopes to become a chief or chairwoman of an orthopedic surgery department.
