With 29 years of medical experience, Dr. Joel S. Berger is recognized as a specialist in maxillofacial surgery and facial reconstruction. He lends his talents to The San Diego Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, where he performs surgery on jaw joints, places dental implants, and trains residents. Additionally, Dr. Berger functions as chief of oral and maxillofacial surgery at Sharp Memorial Hospital and as a teaching professor for plastic surgery. He considers helping people with facial deformities to be the most rewarding aspect of his work. Named Professional of the Year in Maxillofacial Surgery by Cambridge Who's Who, he attributes his success and longevity to perseverance.

Dr. Berger earned his MD in 1980 from the University of Washington and his Doctor of Dental Surgery in 1973 from McGill University. A board certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon, he is a fellow of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He is also affiliated with the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, the American Dental Association, and the American Medical Association.
