James R. Keenan, DDS, MS, MAGD, Named Dentistry Professional of the Year

ROCKAWAY BEACH, NY, May 21, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Dr. James R. Keenan, Dentist in Private Practice, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Dentistry. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named professionals of the year. The Cambridge Who's Who selection committee chooses these special honorees based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements and leadership abilities.

Currently on his eighth year in private practice, Dr. James R. Keenan is a respected specialist in comprehensive general, preventative, restorative and cosmetic dentistry. At the helm of James R. Keenan, DDS, PC, he performs comprehensive general dentistry that includes examinations, emergency treatment, hygiene, periodontal treatment, preventive dentistry, restorations, crowns and bridges, dentures, implant placement and restorative treatment, extractions, root canal treatment, cosmetic dentistry, and orthodontics.

In addition to managing his clinic, Dr. Keenan serves as an attending dentist in the department of oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Peninsula Hospital Center. He also offers free dental care to low-income patients and participates in numerous study groups. Also active in the field of research, Dr. Keenan co-authored two papers on biomedical research and this July is set to present a paper in Barcelona, Spain on the effectiveness of analgesics for the PEARL Network at the New York University College of Dentistry. He recently appeared on the cover of the PEARL Network Newsletter.

Honored with a Mastership to the Academy of General Dentistry, Dr. Keenan considers this honor to be the highlight of his career to date. He attributes his success to his perseverance and willingness to put the needs of others before his own. He earned his doctor of dental surgery in 2002 from the NYU College of Dentistry and his bachelor of arts in natural science in 1989 from Fordham University.

Dr. Keenan serves as education committee chairman of the Academy of General Dentistry and sits on the benefits and dental education committees of the New York State Academy of General Dentistry. Additional affiliations include the AIM Study Group of the New Jersey Academy of General Dentistry, the Brooklyn Dental Forum Study Club, the Study Club of the Peninsula Hospital Center Dental Society, the American Dental Association, the American Dental Implant Association, the Academy of Laser Dentistry, Practitioners Engaged in Applied Research and Learning Network of the NYU College of Dentistry, the International Association for Dental Research, and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.
