Richard B. Rubenstein Receives Cambridge Who's Who's Highest Honor
Richard B. Rubenstein named "Professional of the Year in Bariatric Surgery"

EAST PATCHOGUE, NY, March 10, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Richard B. Rubenstein, MD, Senior Surgeon with the Suffolk Surgical Group, P.C., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in bariatric surgery.

Dr. Rubenstein has an unprecedented 33 years of professional experience, 21 of which have been as a senior surgeon with Suffolk Surgical Group, P.C. A renowned expert in the field of bariatric surgery, he performs thoracic, vascular and laparoscopic gastric banding (LAP-BAND ) surgery. Dr. Rubenstein is proud to have been a pioneer in the field of bariatric surgery, having been a principal investigator in the FDA clinical trials for the LAP-BAND and Swedish Band. He notes that he became involved in his profession while pursuing his Ph.D. and attributes his success to his hard work and reliability.

A published author, Dr. Rubenstein has written over 20 surgical peer-reviewed articles. He earned his MD from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in 1972 and his Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from Queens College in 1968. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of Peconic Bay Medical Center, the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. This year, he was chosen as Cambridge Publishing's "Professional of the Year in Bariatric Surgery."
