HOLLAND, MI, March 23, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Marilyn J. Franken, Nursing Manager at Resthaven Patrons, Inc., has been recognized by Cambridge Who's Who for demonstrating dedication, leadership and excellence in nursing leadership.

A 55-year veteran of patient care, Marilyn J. Franken has a diverse professional background that covers urology, gynecology, medical-surgical and geriatric nursing. For the last 14 years, she has been sharing her expertise with other nurses at Resthaven Patrons, a retirement community. She functions in the capacity of nursing manager and staff nurse overseeing long-term healthcare and supervising staff.

Ms. Franken brings to her position her experiences as medical-surgical clinical manager and medical-surgical staff nurse at Holland Community Hospital, as director of nursing services at Meadowbrook Care Center, and as supervisor and staff nurse at Haven Park Nursing Center. She also worked overseas as director of nursing services at the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain and as a clinical nurse for the American Red Cross during Operation Desert Storm. Chosen two years in a row by Cambridge Who's Who as Professional of the Year in Nursing, Ms. Franken attributes her success to her knowledge, her faith in God, and the support that she received from her family and mentors.

A member of the American Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, Ms. Franken became a certified medical-surgical nurse in 1990 and a registered nurse in 1953 through the Iowa Methodist School of Nursing. She obtained her bachelor of science in nursing in 1954 from Central College. She has volunteered with the Reformed Church in America and the American National Red Cross.
