SPRINGFIELD, MO, December 01, 2010 /24-7PressRelease/ --Dr. Patricia M. Dix, Perinatologist for CoxHealth Regional Perinatal Center, has been named Cambridge Who's Who Professional of the Year in Maternal-Fetal Medicine. While inclusion in the Cambridge Who's Who Registry is an honor, only a small selection of members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, years of service, and the credentials they have provided in association with their Cambridge Who's Who membership.

With an impressive background that spans 28 years, Dr. Patricia M. Dix practices maternal-fetal medicine as well as obstetrics and gynecology. She specializes in caring for women whose pregnancies are considered to be high risk due to medical, surgical and obstetric risk factors such as high blood pressure, diabetes, birth defects and Rhesus disease. Dr. Dix considers having the ability to assist women who are under the impression that they cannot conceive children to be the most gratifying aspect of her career. Set on becoming a doctor from the age of 14, she credits the fulfillment of her lifelong dream to her passion for her profession and a genuine desire to care for others.

Dr. Dix earned her MD from the University of Illinois. She completed an internship at the University of Florida and during her time there was the only woman in its surgery residency program. She also underwent an obstetrics and gynecology residency program at West Virginia University and a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Wake Forest University. Certified in obstetrics, gynecology and maternal-fetal medicine, Dr. Dix serves as the Ambassador of Community Health for the Cox Foundation and sits on the board of directors of CoxHealth. She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, the American Medical Women's Association, and the Missouri State Medical Association.
