Brits Love Affair with Holiday Cosmetic Surgery Creates Increase in UK Corrective Surgery
Transform has seen a 72% increase in corrective surgery operations from 2007 and 2008. The most common corrective procedures following holiday surgery is breast augmentations (breast enlargements), tummy tucks and rhinoplasty operations.
MANCHESTER, ENGLAND, March 10, 2009 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Transform, the largest cosmetic surgeons in the UK, can reveal that in 2007 alone they undertook 18 corrective cosmetic procedures, with the figure worryingly increasing to 31 last year. The most common corrective cosmetic surgery procedures carried out across Transform clinics are breast augmentations (62%) followed by tummy tucks (18%) rhinoplasty operations (10%).
And research by BAAPS only reaffirms Transform's findings as they reveal a significant 33% increase in corrective procedures amongst their cosmetic surgeons over the last five years.
The Increase in Corrective Cosmetic Surgery from Surgery Holidays
According to the recent survey undertaken by the organisation, 44% of cosmetic surgeons saw three to five dissatisfied patients and 14% saw six to eight patients.
Whilst the majority of botched cosmetic surgery operations Transform undertake come from abroad, they can reveal that there's no one country to blame, instead they come from a variety of foreign destinations.
BAAPS can back this up with statistics showing that over half (53%) of cosmetic surgeons see dissatisfied patients from Poland, followed by 44% seeing unhappy customers from South Africa and 36% from Belgium. Other countries mentioned in the survey were Hungary, Turkey, Croatia, Cyprus, Egypt, Thailand and Malaysia.
Some Corrective Cosmetic Surgery following NHS Operations too
But it seems that not all Transform's corrective cosmetic surgery comes from botched foreign procedures, with a small number coming from NHS patients who are unhappy with the cosmetic work carried out through them.
Cosmetic Surgery needs Research
Shami Thomas, PR Manager at Transform says: "Our experience with patients who come to us for corrective surgery has shown that the problems arise because they don't do thorough enough research. More often than not, they have no information about the surgeon and his qualifications, nor do they have any idea of the standards of care in the country they are visiting.
"However, what patients don't realise is that whilst the saving in money seems so tempting at the time, it's actually much more expensive in the long run if the surgery goes wrong. And not only is corrective surgery crippling financially, it's often sometimes impossible, leaving people scarred for life.
"We can't emphasise enough the importance of doing your research and choosing a reputable clinic and surgeon. Transform has over 30 years experience and customers appreciate that reassurance, that's why we're the number one cosmetic surgery group in the UK."
