With five years of professional experience and nearly three in his current position, Dr. Patel specializes in performing LASIK, corneal transplantation, and cataract surgeries. In addition to his work for Cape Fear Eye Associates, Dr. Patel shares his expertise as a clinical assistant professor at the Department of Ophthalmology of The University of North Carolina. Dr. Patel completed his fellowship in cornea and refractive surgery at Wilmer Eye Institute of Johns Hopkins Hospital and his ophthalmology training at The University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, where he served as chief resident in his final year. He received his medical degree from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine and his Bachelor of Science from Kent State University. His professional affiliations include the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, and the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology. He volunteers with Better Health in his spare time.
